1973 Love Bug Camper Original: Similar to Canadian Boler (same mold), Scamp, or Trillium
13’6”Long Weighs 925 lbs
Love Bug campers were completely American made in Tripoli, Iowa by Trifab. This rare fiberglass camper is super cute. It is all original, except for brand new tires and spare tire as well as city water inlet. The water is a cool set up because you can attach a bottle and use the pump on the sink or connect city water then open up the faucet knob for water plus it has a tu-co gravity water tank with no cracks or leaks. The ensolite on the walls and ceiling is in near perfect condition; no cracks or rips but does have one repaired spot, that is hard to notice, unless you are really looking. Propane furnace, oven and stove work. There appears to be a patched in the fiberglass on the backside of the camper that was repaired at one point, as noted in the picture. I am pretty sure this is why there is a bit of damage to the rear of the floor, also noted in picture. Since I have owned it, we have had many significant rain storms and it hasn’t leaked. It has the original tilt out tinted windows with no cracks. The dinette turns into a bed, and the couch converts to bunk beds. Electric works when plugged in and I have not tried using the electricity with a battery hooked up to it. The only missing component is the icebox, which goes under the stove. It has 3 brand new tires. I found this camper on an old generational ranch in Wyoming. The last of the descendants passed away. From what I was told, this was purchased brand new and was used as a resting place on their thousands of acres ranch. The fabric is all pretty crispy, and does not smell the best. Redo all foam and fabric, or use as is. Make it your own personal touch and upgrades. Tires are brand new and she pulls like a dream behind any small SUV or truck. Trailer jack is stripped out. Could maybe fix it to keep it original or replace it. my 14 year old can pick the tongue up with ease. Door closes and latches. Seems it sags a little or is crooked. May need hinges bent up or realigned. Trailer lights have not been tested. There is a plug that goes to them. It does not have a connector to go with vehicle. I would suggest buyer bring magnetic lights to get her home. Has Clear title in my name.
