SOLD - 2005 Casita Freedom Deluxe, 17ft - Reduced! $10,000 - Rock Island, IL

This Freedom Deluxe has been remodeled so it is like a Spirit Deluxe with a double bed and a single bed. The Freedom Deluxe has sleeping for two only. Your choice.

Double bed and extra double mattress (or use as bench seats and dining table for four), PLUS a dinette for two with upholstered (4-inch thick) bench seats that can be converted to a bed and provide extra storage, OR simply remove the seats and reinstall the original plush swivel chairs — extra flexibility for configuring living space and sleeping accommodations. (The bench seats enclose the steel support posts for the swivel chairs; changeover is easy.) BONUS! In addition to the custom dinette/third bunk: custom shelving in the closet for additional storage

Bathroom with powered exhaust vent and window

Refrigerator works on gas, electricity or 12-volt battery (freezer door hinge broken, but we’ve never needed the freezer and just use it for extra fridge space)

Two-burner gas stove wth hood vent

Air conditioner and furnace (but we have never needed to use the A/C, and the heater only once, since the multi-speed, reversible Fantastic roof vent provides all the ventilation we’ve ever needed, for three-season camping); there’s also a quick-warming feature for chilly mornings.

Sliding glass windows on three sides for cross-ventilation; Venetian blinds for privacy or light

Nicely carpeted throughout, including the walls

Two propane tanks with selector switch and protective cover

Built-in stabilizers (but we use scissor jacks, which are included — much easier)

Water heater runs on propane or electricity

Use either city water hookup or the onboard fresh water tank with pump

Camper can be pulled easily with an SUV (we have a Toyota Highlander); dry weight 2,480 lbs.

Camper has its own brakes, but we have not needed to add the connection required to activate them from the car — the camper pulls like it isn’t even there, and we have found the car brakes to be adequate, if driven responsibly

Running lights — brake lights, turn signals — all synched with the tow vehicle (via electrical connection installed along with the universal hitch)

Awning — we’ve used only once; normally we’re in a shady area and haven’t needed it

Roof antenna for TV can be rotated for best signal; cable connections installed (we have never used)

110-120v A/C receptacles both inside and outside

Deep-cycle battery, new in 2020 (according to the dealer we bought from)

Porch light for convenience and security

Soffit storage all around three sides of the camper for foodstuffs, cooking items, clothing, personal items, cleaning supplies and household items

The fiberglass body is clean, hail- and water-resistant, and the caulking is sound; we have never had a leak.

Wheels greased in 2022; tires are good — plenty of tread.

Casita is sought after as the premier brand of small campers and one major reason is the full fiberglass shell, which is constructed like two halves of an eggshell, joined with a sealed flashing — there are no leaks to worry about, and none of the rattles and separations that are often reported for stick-built small campers.

We bought this camper in 2020 after learning that the waiting list for a new Scamp was eight months and a Casita as long as a year. It has been fun but at our age, we have done all the camping we wish to do.

Asking price: $12,000, based on comparable Casita models that have been advertised — but lacking the additional customizations that we have added to the value of this one. (Listed starting price for a new Casita Freedom Deluxe was $32,694 the last time we checked.) FYI, the Freedom Deluxe has a bathroom; the standard Freedom model has bunk beds in that space, no bathroom.

We also include a cover for winter storage, water filter, surge protector, three potable water hoses (total 75 ft.) plus storage reel, and (if desired) cookware, dishes and silverware.

Questions: we will answer to the best of our ability or put prospective buyer in touch with the dealer we bought from.
